The Center for Higher Education is proud to announce its launch of a new website for members at www.higheredleads.com. This member portal provides access to member benefits including premium content, in-depth guides, mentors, an active peer community, and online courses such as the upcoming Strategic Planning course. The portal also offers free access to the course, Higher Education Administration 101, which is available to members and non-members alike.
CHEL provides graduate students, faculty, and academic leaders with professional development, valuable resources, and a supportive community for understanding the transition from graduate student to faculty, faculty to administrator, and the development of leadership skills.
“It was clear to me that faculty leaders in many colleges and universities don’t have access to the tools they need to be successful administrators, and we have expanded to help graduate students understand the role of a faculty member, particularly when it comes to service on committees and their role in the functioning of the institution” stated co-founder, Terri Givens.
“When I was a Vice Provost at the University of Texas and Provost at Menlo College, I wished for an easily accessible source of information that could help me quickly learn what I needed to know as a higher ed administrator,” Givens said. “I realized there needed to be an accessible source for continuing education and professional development, which is why I started CHEL.”
CHEL Co-founders Terri Givens and Shelley Seale will be attending the SXSW EDU convention from March 8 through March 12 in Austin, Texas. They will be part of the “Shark Tank: EDU Edition” held by The Chronicle of Higher Education on Tuesday, March 10th, Hilton Austin Downtown, Room 412.
